Here’s a quick update on my interview with Keri Bellacosa at Fox 7 here in Austin. This link (and the image below) will take you to the video segment that aired today. This was just a quick segment, so we are hoping to give Fox more of the story later this week once we have the ADRoadtrip logo installed on the vehicle :)

ADRoadtrip on Austin’s Fox News

Posted: May 25th, 2009 | Author: Driver X | Filed under: Announcement | No Comments »

AdRoadtrip will be featured tonight on Austin’s Fox News at 9pm Central!
Check it…Jason is a superstar spokesman, the children are background noise.
The Fox News reporter Keri Bellacosa and Marshall the Cameraman were ultra nice and patient with the chaos of the Childrens.
And yes, it was HOT outside.

Watch the segment, visit www.adroadtrip.com and contact Jason if you have any questions on how to get rolling with ADRoadtrip.

We Have Video Blogs To Capture

Posted: May 21st, 2009 | Author: jason | Filed under: Announcement | Tags: , , | No Comments »

So I have contemplated video capture for this road trip on more than one occasion this week. I have a pretty slick Sony HiDef camcorder, but I want to minimize its use to prevent damage that will inevitably ensue with 4 rug rats all fighting for their 15 minutes of fame.

I also want to get the kiddos hands and eyes in on the road trip action too, but I don’t want them to shoot hours and hours of fruit loops in the seat cracks either.

Enter The Flip Vide0 camcorders - easy, small, practical and absolutely kid worthy:

TheFLip Logo Black

And with the handy limit of 60 minutes of built in recordable time, I can limit their total daily video content capture, and hopefully train them to be judicious in their camera work to be patient for laying tape down on the really good stuff.

I hit BestBuy to take a look at The Flip models first hand, and I particularly like the USB 2.0 flip feature… NO MORE CABLES TO LOSE! Woohoo!

I’ll grab a few of the ULTRAs for them, and a MINO for the wife and me, and we’ll be ready to capture every roadkill and car sickness moment with quality and ease. I will edit their video capture every other day or so, and post the highlights right here in the blog for all to see. That way when we blog about your ad you’ll get a special video that will rival one of those highly desired hallmark moments.

Stay tuned for more… we’ll be getting started on video capture in the very near future to put the kids through a mini cinemetography boot camp of sorts.

Road Trip Tour Video On YouTube

Everyone, please take a look at the “tour” video above and let me know what you think. This video is intended to be a rough cut, but this is just a draft. I’ll be adding to this soon to highlight the whole ADRoadtrip concept. Love it or hate it - I’m curious what you think. The video was created in Apple Keynote and iMovie… I’ll share a tutorial too.

Preliminary Route & Schedule Now Available

Posted: May 13th, 2009 | Author: jason | Filed under: Announcement | Tags: , , | No Comments »

Ok… we have laid out the general direction, locations and dates for this Summer’s road trip. It’s fairly firm, but seeing that the departure date is several weeks away, we could have a change or two to report. From here, we will be filling in the gaps with more details on sightseeing, activities and the like.

See the travel schedule below, with much more to come (you can also click here to see this information along with our route map on our “Route” page).

  • WEEK 1:

Kick off the trip in Austin, TX. Ultimate destination: Salt Lake City/Park City, Utah. We will drive through the ever exciting Eastern Texas flatlands, New Mexico into Southeastern Utah…for a grand total of approximately 1500 miles. Stops for gas, food, sights and all round relief will include:

    • El Paso
    • Las Cruces
    • Albuquerque
    • Gallup
    • Farmington (Aliens!)
    • Four Corners
    • Moab
    • Provo
  • WEEK 2:

A quick jaunt from Salt Lake City to Park City, and again and again for some mountain lovin’ time. Camping, mountain biking, hiking, alpine sliding and coastering…you get the idea. Total trip (rinse and repeated 5x) 60 miles.

  • WEEK 3:

Vegas baby. Salt Lake City, Utah to Las Vegas, Nevada. On the drive while in Utah, we’ll stop in world reknowned Cedar City (home of the effervescently unique Utah Shakespearean Festival) and St. George (home of the red rocks and retired). Vegas will get to see our cans for a few days while we whoop it up and down the strip.

  • WEEK 3 ½:

We’re going back to Cali, Cali, Cali. We like the old school beats so we’re going to hit this state hard, starting in the epicenter of LA, take it South and North for a complete taste of the Californication. The total mileage on this leg of the trip is a whopping 1100 miles. Stops for gas, food sights and all round relief will include:

    • Barstow (where else is there to stop)
    • Rancho Cucamongo
    • Pasedena
    • Laguna Beach
    • Newport Beach
    • Irvine
    • San Diego
    • Monterey
    • Santa Cruz
    • San Jose
    • San Francisco
    • Yosemite
    • Tahoe
  • WEEK 5:

Back to the promised land, Salt Lake City. With our pockets full of sunshine, we will head back to the SLC going South in Cali eating as much good food as possible and through Vegas again for some, TBD.

  • WEEK 6:

It’s the race of the tetons and we’re kicking it off in Logan, UT and taking it to Jackson Hole, WY. Why not. It’s beautiful and we plan on taking full advantage of the outdoorsiness.

  • WEEK 7:

Take Week 1 and reverse it…anything we missed? We’ll hit it then. Back to the ATX.
